My name is Nicole St. Louis, and I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the most important vehicle for change. I make concerted efforts to bridge the gap between therapist and client, creating a non-judgmental space for honesty and authenticity that reflects our shared humanity.
My work is trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and rooted in empirically based therapies. I aim to create a flexible and organic therapeutic environment that improves insight, increases social-emotional skills, builds resiliency, and enhances understanding of the body-mind connection.
I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Third World Development and later earned my master’s degree in Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling Psychology from Antioch New England Graduate School in Keene, NH, in 2001. In my earlier year’s in the field, I worked in community mental health and residential treatment facilities, serving children, youth, and families in northern Vermont. Since moving to the South Coast in 2020, I have been with Optimal Health doing outpatient therapy with adolescents and adults and providing clinical supervision to relicensed therapists.
I work with a wide variety of populations and utilize multiple treatment modalities. Many of the individuals I support have experienced acute and/or developmental trauma. I also have a personal and professional interest in working with marginalized populations and exploring the impact of discrimination and racism on individuals.
On a personal note, I cherish the small, everyday pleasures in life. I enjoy long drives listening to music with my kids, walking by the water with my husband and our dog, Luna, and having long conversations over dinner with family and friends. And yes, I indulge in the occasional long Netflix binge! Be well!
