Hi, I’m Renée Cedeño. I am a graduate student currently earning my master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling at Bridgewater State University. I am conducting my internship at Optimal Health until I graduate at the end of December 2026. I am working towards becoming a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC).
Over the last two years, I have worked at my university as an academic coach. I have experience using motivational interviewing in that position, where I worked with students of all ages and various cultural backgrounds to overcome motivation blocks and manage academic stress. Over the last two years, I have practiced many of the same clinical skills that I plan to utilize in therapy, such as active listening, reflective questioning, and strengths-based assessment. I enjoy working with adults of all ages, particularly older adults.
In therapy, I approach my work with clients using a holistic, client-centered approach. I plan to focus on the whole person, which includes mind, body, spirit, as well as contextual factors. Collaborative, empathic treatment is the core of my work as an intern counselor. To do this, another major focus of my approach will be to build trust and safety between client and clinician. My clinical skills are rooted in motivational interviewing, narrative therapy, and a strengths-based approach.
With the time I have outside of internship and school, I enjoy spending time with my two cats, shooting 35mm film photography, going to concerts, watching reality television, and visiting family. I look forward to supporting your wellness journey.
