I am Rita A. Martin, an independent contractor for Optimal Health and a board-certified adult nurse practitioner with extensive clinical experience providing patient care across the lifespan. My specialization includes assessing, diagnosing, and treating various psychiatric disorders, such as mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, PTSD, and ADHD. I also have particular expertise in psychopharmacological treatment modalities.
After earning my Master’s in Nursing from UMass Medical Center in 1994, I worked in outpatient settings and nursing homes, focusing on integrated mental health and primary care. I am committed to improving your access to care through virtual visits and medication-assisted treatment options. Before this, I served in various roles at the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health, including as an HIV/AIDS coordinator.
Recently, I began using IDGenetix for genetic testing to help eliminate some of the guesswork involved in prescribing medications. This innovative approach allows me to tailor treatment plans more effectively, ensuring you receive the most suitable medications based on your unique genetic profile. By integrating this advanced tool into my practice, I aim to enhance the precision and effectiveness of the care I provide.
I am licensed to practice in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and my approach is holistic and multidisciplinary. I enjoy collaborating with trained therapists and wellness providers to support your overall mental well-being.
